Welcome!

Its been 3 years since the SFC2.net website has been offline, but now its back up! The site itself is still in exactly the same condition as you last saw it, lol.

Over the next few weeks, the SFC2.net admin team will be reviewing and updating the site, but for now, we thought for purposes of nostalgia and all of you who were around in the days of Canada West, that we have the site back up before doing any updates. Screenshot of the week seems to have become Screenshot of the last 3 years! (poor Tantulus!).

Thanks go to Frey and Xenocorp, and also to Bonk, who without their efforts, this website would still be collecting dust in someone's basement.

The forums can be reached by clicking on the forum link in the left hand menu. We'll also be updating the pilot profiles very soon, so if you'd like your profile listed, or updated, please either post in the forums here, or in the D2 experiences at dynaverse.net

Alternatively, you can email either myself (FPF_TraceyG@hotmail.com) or Capt Jeff (capt_jeff_1af@hotmail.com)

Stay tuned for updates!

Hi

We would like to start by thanking everyone for all of their comments regarding the Federation Shipyard, we are glad you like them and hope you find them useful. This post is to outline what else we have planned for the website and what kind of features you can benefit from, both player and Admin alike.

The Federation Ship yard is only the tip of the iceberg, we plan the following: -

- A Ship Yard for every race including Orion Pirate Cartels. All Orion Pirate ships will be covered.
- Individual UI for each race, based on the HUD Design from the game.
- Extensive coverage of all Fighters.
- Weapons tables - Ranges, %Hit, Damage etc.
- Strategy for all races, by players for players. This will come from various sources, including a special 'J'inn's Guide to Successful Navigation through an Asteroid field' - Don't leave space dock without it!
- More extensive coverage of D2 related events.
- The ability to advertise your own server in our 'Campaigns' section. Boost your players by making sure you use this free feature! Not all players use the Taldren forum and making use of this feature will ensure greater awareness, plus you have nothing to lose!
- Victory Conditions - Want to run a campaign with VC's? Not got a website nor have the time to build one? Well then make use of our Online Victory Conditions section available to all that register their campaign with us for advertising. This feature allows you to Add/Edit/Delete VC's as you like, issue Usernames and Passwords to players so they can pick up their VC's, and also features an online scoring system. E-Mail myself for further information on this function.
- We will be covering some aspects of SFC3 when released and the site may extend to include some of the features. We do plan on creating another Ship Database for SFC3.
- Online Signup Feature to allow an accurate 'head count' of players in our campaigns. This will also enable a greater awareness of the Server Rules which will cut down on Violations by players pleading ignorance.

We do have plans for lots more features and more news will be released as and when we have finalised the details. SFC2.Net - The Official Dynaverse II Server is here for the community, so if you have any comments or suggestions please E-Mail using the address below.

Thanks for all the support you have shown us!

Hi

We are very proud to announce the release of the Federation Shipyards. You can view these by going through the Races Option.

This has been a long time in the planning, we started these yards when we first started the site and had to put them on hold for a while. Now that the skeleton is complete we have the basic design for the rest of the yards, so keep your eyes pealed for the next Yards

We do hope you enjoy these Ship Yards as much as we have had fun creating them. And if you have any suggestions, or spot any mistakes, please let me know. If you want to see more information on them send me a mail and I will see what I can do

Next - The Hydrans

Have fun!

Here is some information on SFC2.Net 6.5 - Attack of the Kitties!
Here are the basics as they stand now. Minor changes may happen before gameday.

I. CONCEPT
A semi-serious server. Light in mood. CW 7 will be the next serious server most likely to follow CW 6.5.

II. SPECIFICS
A. Alliances - Three Way War

K/R/G v. M/L/I v. F/H

B. Map
In the neighborhood of 30 x 40. Empires will be very small, only seven hexes each. Econ for each race will be equal. Each race will have the same number of planets and bases.

C. Player Control

All players MUST sign up. Players will NOT be able to create accounts on their own (before or after the campaign starts). Admins will create all player accounts.
Players will sign up on the Sfc2.net website. There, players will choose the race they are going to play (NO race restrictions). But, there will be singup bonuses for all races but the most populated race. The formula will be something like this:

If say the Lyrans have the most signed up , they start with 500pp (standard). Then the rest of the races get a bonus something like what is listed below (using a forumla of 500pp per player difference between them and the highest player count race * a factor of the race position)...
[This forumla is only an indication of the actual formula to be used]

Factor table:
Rank -- Bonus factor
1-------0.0
2-------0.1
3-------0.2
4-------0.4
5-------0.6
6-------0.8
7-------1.0
8-------2.0

Lyran 200 players, 500pp on signup (500pp +( 0.0 * (0 * 500)))
Gorn 185 players, 1,250pp on signup (500pp +(0.1 * (15 * 500)))
Klink 160 players, 4,500pp on signup (500pp +(0.2 * (40 * 500)))
Fed 150 players, 10,500pp on signup (500pp +(0.4 * (50 * 500)))
Hydran 140 players, 18,500pp on signup (500pp +(0.6 * (60 * 500)))
ISC 80 players, 48,500pp on signup (500pp +(0.8 * (120 * 500)))
Rom 70 players, 65,500pp on signup (500pp +(1.0 * (130 * 500)))
Mirak 40 players, 160,500pp on signup (500pp +(2.0 * (160 * 500)))

D. Special Ships
A custom shiplist will be used. This will include new desingns selected from the shiplist council. Swapping shiplists will be made easy or not done at all.

E. Special Missions

New missions will be made available. NO MORE PATROL BUG!!! Currently, these still need to be tested, go here for details.

F. Victory Conditions
Working with the admins, the RMs will have the opportunity to pick some of them from a list of options. Other VCs will also be added. The Role Play thread may effect VCs.

H. Estimated Start Date
Two Weeks. Possiblly May 31.

I. General Server Settings

Same as for CW6, e.g., supplies, ship cost and designation, DV dropping by 1 and flipping up to 1, etc.

J. Command and Control

Same as CW 6. Rules will be posted.

K. Bounties/Assassination

Not likely to be in this campaign.

L. RMs
We are hoping that the previous RM's/Arms will return to the job. They did a fantastic job last time. This will be sorted out before the start of the campaign.

M. Role Play
J'inn will start a Role Play thread on Taldren. Light and silly. (CW7 will be serious). Everyone invited to play along. RP could very well effect the VCs.

Well that is the basic idea just to let you know what we're up to.

We will keep you posted as things progress.

Thanks!

Many people have asked us about the eagerly awaited SFC2.Net 7.0 Campaign. This campaign will be the first Campaign to use the new SQL Server kit which promises to improve the game no end!
We have many many ideas in the works for what is being referred to as CW7, all of which promise to make SFC2 a game like no other!

This Tuesday CW6 will be offline for the entire day. Starting at 1am PST Tuesday morning, till 1am Wendsday morning.
This is expressly for the purpose of getting the highest possible population count on FunBeta. FunBeta as most know is using the most recent SQL build which apears to be stable.

To confirm this we must stress test it with the highest possible population we can muster. All SFC2.Net CW6 players are asked to please spend what time you would have on the main server Tuesday on FunBeta.

FunBeta will be set to a maximum population of 200, if we can hit this number a new age will come to D2.

We look foward to see'ing you all on Tuesday. FunBeta will retain it's current settings of 1 turn auctions, 5 minute turns, and 100,000 starting prestige.

Regardless of the Stress test results CW6 will continue to use the FlatFile. We have no way to convert the database to SQL. However it will allow us to start planning out CW7 so that it can start right on the heals of CW6's end.

SFC2.net 6 (CW6) is cruising along.
We've certainly had our share of instability issues with the database (as expected) but the database cleaner is helping. Version 0.0.1 is in use, version 1.0 should be coming out this weekend which should get us back to 100% stability!! Watch for more news... or just keep playing :)

The server will be coming down in about 26 minutes, 12 noon PST, for a day of DB edits, settings changes and some more tests. It will be back up and running either 12 or 24 hours later, depending on our progress.

There will be no reset, it will pick-up where it left off.
Any RM or Asst RM who has not recieved your ship, get in contact with me about your account, we will be having a short "dreadfest" for you guys if we can coordinate it, so you all can grab your flagships.

Any other unreported problems let me know about them ASAP.

Thanks

The Campaign is under way! An amazing 125 players logged on in the first 8 minutes of the start! Unfortunatly due to the Server Kit we had to limit this down to 100.

Check out the Campaign section for information on SFC2.Net 6.0 - Storm Season. You'll also find our exclusive Live Webmap utility which enables you to check on the campaign without logging onto the Campaign. You'll never be bored at work again :)See you on there!

IMPORTANT!! From the Khoromag team:
This is a warning to all Windows XP users with Norton Antivirus 2002. There is a confirmed and known bug in this release of NAV on XP that can cause corruption of the OP patches *during* download. If the patch is corrupted during download you will receive a "file corrupt" error message during unpacking. The way to remedy this is to disable Auto-Protect during the download. You can re-enable Auto-Protect before you run the patch program
See the original announcement here.

Thanks!
